Today, the closing ceremony of the first BRICS Youth Festival was held at the Zheleznodorozhnikov Culture Center. The highlight of the gala concert was the award ceremony for the winners of the intellectual competitions — Olympiads in Mathematics and Informatics, which brought together the best school students from 13 countries.

The festival participants were greeted by Evgeniya Lodvigova, Deputy Mayor of Kazan.

«Unfortunately, our festival is coming to an end. Thank you very much for coming. The most important thing: when you return home, I would like you to tell everyone — your friends, your parents, your loved ones — about Russia, about Kazan, the city you visited. I hope that someday you will return here,» Evgeniya Lodvigova addressed the participants.

The closing ceremony was marked by summarizing the results of the Olympiad, which took place on September 23rd and 24th at Kazan Federal University. The intellectual tournament united 131 gifted students aged 14 to 17 from 35 municipalities across 13 countries: Belarus, Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia, South Africa, Turkey and Uzbekistan.

The results of the team standings were announced at the gala concert. The awards were presented to the winners by Guzel Sagitova, Deputy Mayor of Kazan; Arseny Karyakin, Secretary General of the BRICS+ Association of Cities and Municipalities; Aliya Zagidullina, Chairperson of the Children and Youth Affairs Committee; and Irek Rizvanov, Head of the Kazan Education Department.

Gold medals were won by four teams: 2 from Russia and 2 from Kazakhstan. Silver medals went to 3 teams from China, as well as teams from Turkey and Belarus. Bronze prizes were awarded to 8 teams: from India, Indonesia, China, Belarus, as well as two teams each from Uzbekistan and Russia. Special prizes were awarded to teams from India, Turkey, Brazil, Russia, Indonesia, South Africa, Iran, Egypt, and Ethiopia.

The winners of the Olympiad were congratulated by Lenar Safin, Rector of Kazan Federal University. He offered 5 state-funded admission spots at the Kazan University to the brightest minds of the Festival. «You had a very busy program. You did not only participate in all the competitions, but you were also participants in the Olympiads in Mathematics and Informatics. I especially want to congratulate the winners and promise that you can enter the Kazan Federal University on a state-funded basis. And for the guys from Uzbekistan and Egypt, there is a wonderful opportunity to enroll in our branches in Jizzakh and Cairo,» the Rector said.

The Olympiad was split into two days and included both team and individual stages. On the first day, participants solved mathematics problems of three difficulty levels and defended team projects in informatics related to urban development—from logistics optimization to data analysis. On the second day, the school students competed in Mathematics and Informatics.

The closing ceremony of the first BRICS Youth Festival continued with a display of national costumes from the participating countries. Creative performances were presented by participants from Belarus, Indonesia, and Kazakhstan. The stage also featured the Kazan Dance Ensemble Studio, Honored Art Worker of the Republic of Tatarstan Elmir Nizamov, singer Ilgiz Mukhutdinov, and the a-capella choir of Dmitry Zheleznov.

The BRICS Youth Festival was held in the capital of Tatarstan. Kazan gathered 150 talented children aged 14 to 17 from 35 municipalities in 13 countries worldwide. The grand opening ceremony took place on Monday on the stage of the Galiaskar Kamal Theatre. On the second day of the festival, the BRICS Youth Olympiad in Mathematics and Informatics opened at Kazan University, held alongside the meeting of the Committee on Youth Policy and Education of the BRICS+ Association of Cities and Municipalities.

On the fourth day of the Festival, 13 young representatives from the BRICS countries gathered for a roundtable discussion at the Kazan City Hall with the Mayor of Kazan to discuss the future of the planet and international youth cooperation. Festival participants also donated books they brought with them to School No. 107. Thus, a BRICS+ youth library was created, featuring publications from various countries.
