The BRICS Youth Olympiad is set to take place in the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan

The event will be held on September 23-24, 2025, at Kazan Federal University (KFU) as part of the BRICS Youth Festival. It will bring together talented teenagers from 35 cities to foster friendship and cooperation. The Olympiad will be conducted in English and feature two stages, allowing participants to showcase their skills in both team and individual competitions.

The first competition, a group tournament, kicked off on September 23. Welcoming addresses were delivered by Irek Rizvanov, Head of the Department of Education of Kazan, and Dmitry Tayursky, First Vice-Rector of Kazan Federal University. «We are delighted that such a significant event is taking place in Kazan—a city with a rich scientific history where key academic traditions were born. You have a unique opportunity to connect with this scientific spirit,» noted Dmitry Tayursky, emphasizing the university’s honor in hosting future science leaders. A key feature of the first stage was its inclusivity: all 131 teenagers who arrived for the festival participated. The students formed teams of 2 to 5 people to solve interdisciplinary case studies. They tackled mathematics problems of three difficulty levels and presented IT projects aimed at optimizing urban environments, covering areas from logistics to data analysis. An expert review session of the tasks was held later that evening. This format was specifically designed to unlock creativity, leadership, and teamwork skills. All participants will receive commemorative certificates.

The final part of the Olympiad on September 24 will be an individual round, featuring the strongest contestants from each city, who have already proven their talent with victories in national tournaments. At this stage, they will demonstrate their brilliant knowledge of mathematics and computer science, competing in two age categories: 14-15 and 16-17 years old. The tasks in this round will be of advanced complexity, requiring serious academic preparation. The winners and prize-winners will be awarded medals and diplomas and will also gain the opportunity to participate in future scientific events at KFU. The official award ceremony will take place on September 26 at the gala concert of the BRICS Youth Festival.

This large-scale event is part of the BRICS Youth Festival, organized by the Kazan City Hall and the BRICS+ Association of Cities and Municipalities. The festival runs from September 20 to 28 and has already gathered 150 representatives from 13 countries at the «Molodaya Gvardiya» camp, establishing itself as a vital platform for cultural and scientific exchange. Thus, the Olympiad will make a significant contribution to strengthening friendly ties and international cooperation.
